Coming Out in Mid-Life in Red America

How old are you and what is your relationship status? I am 54 and currently am in a committed relationship of 3 years duration.

What kind of work do you do? Attorney

What are your hobbies? Surfing, sailing, canoeing, snow skiing, reading, history

Do you have any special skills? I have a legal background and good writing skills.

What turns you on? What is your "type"? Guys in good shape who and also have intelligence and varied interests. A pretty face and nice body do not mean much if there is nothing behind the eyes.

Anything interesting about you that your readers wouldn't know? Unless they read all of my blog, they may not know I was married to a woman for 24 years and have 3 children, ages 18, almost 22 and 25

Tell us about your blog: Coming Out in Mid-Life in Red America

Tell us about it's birth? It was inspired by a piece on another blog that talked about the closet, the emotional abuse gay children experience, etc., and also the coming out story of the author of debriefing the boys. I started blogging in a serious way about 2 months ago. I describe it as "A Gay American's Thoughts on Coming Out, Life, Love, Sex, Religion, Politics."

Who is it's intended audience? Every living human being, but in particular guys who may be in the closet that can learn from my mistakes and my experiences, and who can also see that there is life after the closet.

How many daily visitors does it get? About 50 per day, although the traffic is increasing If you could sum up your blog in one sentence, what would it be? A Gay American's Thoughts on Coming Out, Life, Love, Sex, Religion, Politics

If you had unlimited time, budget and staff, how would you change your blog? I would post many more articles and do more research to back up stories

How much time a week do you spend on your blog? Probably an hour to an hour and a half per day

How many blogs do you read weekly? What are your favorites? Several dozen. My favorites are linked to my blog.

Tell us about your future: Give us some coming attractions on your blog: I am going to continue telling my coming out story and my transition from a guilt ridden guy just out of the closet to a confident openly gay man.

What do you see different in your life two years from now? My legal practice will have grown significantly, I will have more time for my blog, and I can be more involved in gay rights activism.
