In Depth: Music Guy from Raging Rainbows

July 18, 2007 by admin

MusicHow old are you and what is your relationship status?
I¡¦m 28 years old and have been with my partner for three and a half years. On June 9, 2007 we plan to have a commitment ceremony in NJ. Yes, it is not marriage, but since we both work in Jersey, we¡¦ll have the option
of health benefits and the like from our employers.

What kind of work do you do?
I¡¦m a high school music teacher in New Jersey. I teach chorus, music appreciation, and musical theater (big surprise). On the weekends, I perform at a piano bar in Philadelphia called Tavern on Camac. It¡¦s a great neighborhood bar with friendly staff and a wide cross section of patrons. If that wasn¡¦t enough, I¡¦m also the Music Director for a Roman
Catholic Church, thus explains the need for anonymity on my blog!

What are your hobbies?
I live and breathe music. If I¡¦m not performing or teaching,I¡¦m taking in a Broadway show, live local theater, or orchestral/choral concerts. I have an extensive CD collection ranging from pop to Broadway to obscure ethnic music.

Do you have any special skills?
Whatever do you mean?? I guess that would be playing piano and singing.

What turns you on? What is your "type"?
Strong arms and nice calves. My type has always been clean cut guys with a personality, conviction, and focus in their lives. That¡¦s how I ended up  with my fabulous partner. He¡¦s as driven as I am which makes us a great
match!

Anything interesting about you that your readers wouldn't know?
If you read my blog, you pretty much know everything I¡¦m willing to tell ƒº

Tell us about your blog :

Tell us about it's birth?
I started by blog three years ago because all my friends were doing it. I know, a wonderful reason. I¡¦m the only one of the group to keep it up.

Who is it's intended audience?
I think in one way or another, I appeal to just about everyone. Even though I tend to focus on issues a gay man deals with, I also discuss a wide range of other topics from stupid people in the news to our ¡§fabulous¡¨ commander-in-chief: president shrub (always lower cased!).

How many daily visitors does it get?
Not many, usually between 25-50. I don¡¦t market it all that much, and the number of visitors doesn¡¦t really matter to me. I blog for me, and if other people stop by, that¡¦s great. I won¡¦t be slitting my wrists if I¡¦m the only one reading my personal thoughts.

If you could sum up your blog in one sentence, what would it be?
Raging Rainbows is the unapologetic view of life and the world by an unapologetic, colorful gay man.

If you had unlimited time, budget and staff, how would you change your blog?
I¡¦d definitely start by redesigning the blog. I¡¦m using a slightly modified blogspot template now, and I¡¦m really tired of both it and blogspot in general. My own domain, editors, and a staff of writers would create the super blog I¡¦ve always dreamed of! Well, not really.  I¡¦m content with the little version, I¡¦d just like to keep things fresh and  new.

How much time a week do you spend on your blog?
1-2 hours, if that. My professional duties keep me pretty occupied, so I have very little time to spend creating posts or updating the layout.

How many blogs do you read weekly? What are your favorites?
I read 15-20 blogs regularly. My favorite is Pam¡¦s House Blend because it is a great source of information regarding GLBT issues in this country and around the world. I can speak intelligently about a wide range of topics because of my frequent stops there. I also read Joe. My. God., Someone in a Tree, U Dream of Janie, and Boys Briefs. Each has a very different view of life, and it¡¦s nice to read a perspective much different than my own.

Tell us about your future:

Give us some coming attractions on your blog:
It will continue to be what it is, until I find time to pour some blood, sweat, and tears into it. For now, it¡¦s my little corner of the cyber world that I enjoy sharing with everyone willing to read it.

What do you see different in your life two years from now?
I¡¦m pretty well settled now: partner, house, car, dog, cats. I don¡¦t see too much change in the next two years. If I¡¦m lucky, I¡¦ll have paid down some of the mountain of debt if amassed!
