In Depth: Scott at Scott-O-Rama
August 30, 2007 by admin

We think Scott has done an amazing job with his new web design and the content is awesome as always. Here's some details you may not have already know about Scott.
Age: 37, I think. I keep having to ask my partner how old I am. He remembers better than me. I'll be 38 in a little over a month though, so start buying those expensive but easily-returnable birthday gifts now!
Relationship status: Married. Well, not really thanks to the radical right and friends, but my partner and I have been together for eleven and a half years. Since that's longer than most officially-recognized marriages last these days, I figure I can say we're married. I refer to my partner on my blog as "Buckaroo." It's a nickname I gave him early on in our relationship since we met in a country (gay) bar.
Career: Currently in the insurance industry, but I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
Hobbies: You mean besides blogging and porn? Is there time for anything else?
Special Skills: That thing I do with my tongue. Oh yeah… you know what I'm talking about. Or did you mean skills outside the bedroom?
Your “type”: Buckaroo, and only Buckaroo. (Is he still reading this? No? Then I'd have to say Matt Battaglia and Raoul Bova are probably my wet dream men.)
Anything interesting about you: Oh god I hope so! Let's see… I come from a small community of towns on the Illinois-Iowa border but have lived in Phoenix, Arizona since 1993. I was raised in the religion of casseroles and potlucks (aka Methodist) although I'm not very religious now. I only cook once a year, and that's Thanksgiving dinner. I have two Aussie Cattle Dogs and a cat. Uhmmm… is any of that interesting?
Tell us about your blog: It's the best blog in the entire world and even the worlds we haven't discovered yet. All your readers should make it their home page and leave lots and lots of comments on it every day.
Birth of blog: Birth? Yikes… that sounds so… biological, but I guess it was born on January 4th, 2005 at 12:53 pm. I was still bitter about "W" winning a second term, and I needed an outlet. I didn't expect the blog to last beyond a week. I didn't even tell Buckaroo about it until a couple months later.
Intended Audience: Anyone and everyone who will read it, but I suppose mostly gay men. I don't think the straight guys appreciate Eye Candy Mondays as much.
Number of daily visitors: Not enough. Never enough.
Who or what inspired you to start your blog? As I mentioned earlier, I was really upset about the 2004 election so that was part of it. I also stumbled across some really great blogs early on. I would have to say that Hot Toddy's Toaster Oven was probably my biggest inspiration. He seemed so cool. I wanted to have blog like him.
If you could sum up your blog in one sentence, what would it be? The description I give whenever I am asked is "Smart, snarky, sarcastic, irreverent, and queer as a $3 dollar bill!" As you can see by that tagline, I'm kind of full of myself.
If you had unlimited time, budget and staff, how would you change your blog? If I had unlimited time, budget, and staff, I probably wouldn't waste those on blogging, BUT to play along with your question, I envision something on the order of The Huffington Post.
How much time a week do you spend on your blog? Much more than people think. I'm a perfectionist, and I'll spend hours upon hours tweaking things to be just right. That's why I took a two month hiatus earlier this summer. I was completely burned out.
How many blogs do you read weekly? The blogroll on my site has over a hundred blogs on it. Now I'll be honest: I don't read all of them every day or even every week. That would be a full time job if I did. Instead I cycle through them on a periodic basis. I also read a lot of tech (geek) blogs. Did I mention I'm a gadget freak and Apple fanatic?
What are your top 5 favorite? Oh god… don't do that to me. Whoever I don't say will hate me. I read the blogs of the people I've made closer friends with more frequently: Rick at Rcktman's Launching Pad, David of Someone in a Tree, Ed of Whine and Cheese, Howard of The Web Pen Blog… oh and Bossy. Scott-O-Rama loves Bossy because she cracks him up something fierce.
Tell us about the future: Isn't that what fortune cookies and psychics are for? Oh… did you mean my future? Hell, I hardly know what I'm doing two minutes from now let alone in the future.
Give us some coming attractions on your blog: Naked midgets! The world's largest ball of used dental floss! Ten new ways to cook cow tongue!
What do you see different in your life in 2 years? I'll be two years older, and if you were paying attention earlier, only a little more that a month away from being 40 which in gay man years is roughly double that! *sob*
