Gay in the City

Having just applied for a Canada Council Arts Grant myself, I can appreciate the beauty of this next video, made by The Federation of Students and Nominally and or Unemployed Artists. I know many people look upon grants as further examples of government waste – but funding the creation of new art serves a valuable purpose. Art exists, if only to express ideas and emotions that are free from the burdens and parameters of commerce. Art is imagination captured in physical form – transcribed from a mysterious place that can’t be mapped. Art when successful, shows us a new way of looking at the world through a subconscious filter, a parallel universe that exists beside our own – dreams recorded, and shared.
