With a cough and runny nose subjecting me to stay indoors on an otherwise promising evening, I decided to go ahead and ignore some of the instructions on the back of the CVS Maximum Strength Tussin Cough Formula box. At first, I carefully poured the viscous “cherry-flavored” mess into its measuring cup and kept a clear sense of the sum total of milliliters I ingested. That approach soon degenerated into generous swigs from the bottle once I felt slightly euphoric and couldn’t stop myself from dancing to Duran Duran. Believe you me, it only got worse.
