Lucas Films Plans Shoot in Isreal

Cameras begin rolling later this month on Michael Lucas’ next blockbuster.  But instead of filming in his usual habitat of New York City, Lucas and crew will be traveling to Israel to shoot the country’s first major gay adult production. In a bold move to promote Israeli culture, Michael Lucas will take fans on a sexual journey to explore the men of Israel.

“For me, Israel is much more than a country; it’s my heart, my soul, my cause,” commented Lucas. “Speaking for Israel has created lots of enemies for me, even here in America. I always get hate messages and comments. It’s my heritage and the place where my ancestors lived for thousands of years. It’s a place we lost and finally gained back, a place where Jews can finally protect themselves from all possible forms of discrimination. It is a gorgeous place where people can truly be liberated and live as they want.”

Lucas feels the global media has created an image of Israel as a war-torn, vicious bully, and that couldn’t be farther from the truth.  It is a fabricated and false representation that Israel is a dangerous, unfriendly society. Publicly broadcast footage is always filmed in either Gaza or the West Bank; they never show Tel Aviv, Haifa, the Red Sea, the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee, the beautiful beaches, the amazing architecture and the embracing culture that allows its citizens to thrive.

In a sea of hostility and intolerance of the Middle East, Israel is the beacon of freedom. In every surrounding country homosexuality is illegal, often punishable by flogging and even hanging. Until just two years ago, Israel was the sole country in Asia where homosexuals were protected by anti-discrimination laws. Presently Israel remains the only country in the Middle East to provide such legal protection. Many LGBT individuals have relocated to Israel, often fleeing cruel intolerance that includes physical abuse, exile, or death.

The nation is a trailblazer in the area of gay rights, and the only nation in the Middle East and Asia to recognize same-sex marriages. “This is a liberal country where gay people have all the rights, actually more rights, than gays in the United States,” states Lucas, “There is no ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ policy. Israeli gay men have been able to serve openly in the army since 1993 and gay couples are granted the right to adopt children.” Israel draws its population from over 90 countries, creating a truly progressive, multicultural society.  There are numerous cities that hold popular gay pride festivals, including Eilat, where Lucas will be performing on May 17. More information on the festival can be found here: http://www.pride.org.il/publish/article_1191.asp

Lucas is a vocal supporter of Israel, and has made numerous public appearances there in the past. In a highly publicized and well-received 2006 trip, Lucas went to Israel during its war with Lebanon, at a time when no other mainstream Jewish entertainers dared to take a trip.

Lucas will use Israel’s towering mountains, sun-kissed desert, the Dead Sea and their stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop for his film. Of course, the film will also showcase the beauty of Israel men. “The guys in this country exude such exotic and natural beauty it is unbelievable,” say s Lucas, “They are surrounded by oppression and here they are free to explore their sexuality. To capture this on film will be a groundbreaking venture.”

Lucas will also be gaining Israeli citizenship based on the right of return. Michael Lucas was born Jewish with the given name Andrei Treyvas Bregman. With this affirmation, Lucas will then have dual citizenship. “I’m very excited to be both an American and Israeli citizen and I gave up my Russian identity long ago, as I believe your motherland is where your heart is. My heart belongs to both the United States and Israel.”

Production is scheduled to begin in Tel Aviv on May 21 and wrap on June 3. Lucas and videographer mr. Pam will be working exclusively with an all Israeli cast and crew. Lucas will be blogging from the area, and will post production updates to his very popular blog LucasBlog.com. Select scenes will be available shortly thereafter on LucasEntertainment.com, and a full DVD release, titled “MEN OF ISRAEL,” is expected to ship on July 22.
