Remembering Gerald Levert
July 13, 2009 by James
Born on this day, July 13, 1966, Gerald Levert was an American R&B singer. Together with his brother Sean Levert (who passed March 30, 2008), and friend Marc Gordon he performed in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also performed a part of LSG, an R&B “supergroup” that included Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill.
Gerald Levert was born into the music industry as his father Eddie Levert was frontman for The O’Jays. Levert grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and he and his trio went on to be very successful with four of its seven albums going platinum.
On November 10, 2006, Levert was found dead in his Newbury home. An autopsy reported he had died of an apparent heart attack along with a fatal combination of prescription narcotics and over-the-counter drugs. The autopsy also revealed that Levert had pneumonia. He was only 40 years old.
