Gay and Nude in 2010

There is much good to talk about. We live in an era of history in which in many ways it is easier to live our lives as out and gay than ever before in the history of this country. Certainly this is still not true in many parts of the country, but it is becoming more and truer with each passing day.
Also, I believe that the protests at Stonewall continue to have a HUGE and positive impact on our lives. It marked the advent of the out, gay and proud men and women. Before this occurred, there were precious few examples of gays to which kids could look at and somehow find a possible positive path that their life may one day take. This didn’t only affect youth, but provided little hope for adults as well. You can almost add the number of years since Stonewall (41) plus the age of people just becoming adults at that time (18) for a total of 59. Today we have many examples both public and private of 60-somethings and younger that we all can look to and know that we too can live a happy life.
Gays and gay culture is becoming more mainstream. More than ever we see gays living in suburbs, raising families and just living normal, boring lives. Gays are increasingly becoming more accepted in television, movies, music, politics (Democratic only), military, public service and even the PTA. This is the true goal of the gay rights movement and it is materializing in front of our eyes.
