Raising Arizona

It’s no big secret that Jan Brewer and her posse that prays before they make laws in the Grand Canyon State aren’t exactly putting Arizona on the map for a place that’s welcoming to LGBT Americans (or Americans with Brown skin).  So it makes perfect sense that boycotts or plain and simple avoidance may be in order.  But unless you live in Arizona and are part of the LBGT community, you may not see this side of the coin.

According to a post on Boy Meets Blog:

The Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute chose Las Vegas over Phoenix for their 2011 conference. They even cited “the current political and legal climate in Arizona,” as the reason they could not “accept your hospitality.”

But, as an answer to this the author posts:

To the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Institute: You had a golden opportunity to stand up against bigotry and you blew it. Thanks for abandoning Arizona when we need your help.
