Many gay politicians in San Francisco and lawyers who have had dealings with Walker say the 65-year-old jurist, appointed to the bench by President George H.W. Bush in 1989, has never taken pains to disguise – or advertise – his orientation.

They also don’t believe it will influence how he rules on the case he’s now hearing – whether Proposition 8, the 2008 ballot measure approved by state voters to ban same-sex marriage, unconstitutionally discriminates against gays and lesbians.

“There is nothing about Walker as a judge to indicate that his sexual orientation, other than being an interesting factor, will in any way bias his view,” said Kate Kendell, head of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, which is supporting the lawsuit to overturn Prop. 8.

Of course, the most recent blockbuster drama, is the one starring President Obama.

But in a galaxy far, far away, Republicans have created their very own “Real USA.”

In that happy parallel universe, the President is still white. There are a few minorities around, but they’re very polite.

Nothing bad ever happens (at least nothing their fault). We’re a White Christian Nation again, at least by default.

Women stay home and nobody’s gay. The streets are safe for children to play.

There’s still some crime left, but it doesn’t matter, because it’s not in the parts of the country that matter.

People only do wholesome things for fun, and everybody owns (and carries) a gun.

Removal of aliens and most minorities has been completed, So the police are no longer needed.

There’s no sex education in school, abstinence Only is the rule.

Birth control and abortion are not allowed, because neither are necessary (at least that’s what’s avowed).

I think it’s time for the Gay “community” to decide what it really wants: To be seen as a radical counterculture that defines itself primarily by sexual behavior, or to be seen as fully entitled American citizens who, like the heterosexual population, are not defined primarily by sexual behavior. That decision has not been taken.

When gayAmericablog staff cite people like Dan Savage as leaders, who cheerfully refers to himself as a “faggot” when he appears on TV, I know that decision has not been taken. When San Francisco assemblyman Tom Ammiano publicly refers to himself as a “queen” and the Gay media adores it, I know that decision has not been taken. When activists cheer after a Lesbian biker club wins a copyright for the name “Dykes on Bikes”, I know that decision has not been taken. When Pride parades thrive on frivolty, intoxication, exhibitionism and shock value, and fail to communicate the gravity of living as a Gay person in this world, I know that decision has not been taken.

Do we really think that kind of retrograde language and display works to the benefit of a Victor Fehrenbach or a Dan Choi? There has long been a profound lack of dignity and seriousness in our public presentation. And we wonder why it’s so easy for our enemies to get anti-Gay amendments passed. I’ll tell you one big reason why: We make it easy for them!

One interesting thing fact is that Michael was next in line to playing Taylor Lautner’s part as Jacob in New Moon had Lautner decided not to return! Copon would’ve skyrocketed even more had this happened!
