But that hasn’t kept him and his son Joshua from giving it to us straight about equality and that’s why they both have appeared in Adam Bouska’s NOH8 campaign.

According to a post on ESPN’s College Basketball Nation Blog:

“We are Isiah and Joshua Thomas. We posed for the NOH8 Campaign because we believe that all hate and discrimination is wrong. It is time for full equality and equal rights for everyone, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender.”

John McCain’s staunch opposition to gay marriage was one of the key parts of his presidential campaign. But it has become clear this was not supported in his own household. His daughter, Meghan, is a vocal advocate of gay rights. Now his wife, Cindy, has appeared in a poster campaign against California’s proposition 8 – a law banning same-sex marriage.

The move has shocked and delighted gay rights campaigners and led to questions about the state of the McCains’ own marriage.

Cindy McCain appears in the poster with silver duct tape across her mouth and the campaign slogan, “NOH8″, marked on her cheek.

Unveiling the image on his website, Adam Bouska, the founder of the campaign, said: “In the year since we’ve started the NOH8 Campaign we’ve often been surprised at some of the different individuals who have approached us showing their support. Few, though, have surprised us more than Cindy McCain.

The passage of Prop 8 was an event that I still have trouble stomaching, and I’m sure many of you feel the same way. All people, gay or straight, should be able to get married and share the same rights — love is love and I can’t really fathom how and why people disagree with that. If you don’t want to marry a person of the same sex, then don’t! It’s as simple as that. Everyone should at least be given the option. There should be no limitations as to who we choose to spend our lives with, and there should be no outside parties helping to make these decisions for us. If someone had told me that I couldn’t marry Lamar, I would have told them to go F themselves! LOL.

He has received overwhelming support from people across the country including some who may be considered to be “high profile”.

My favorite one yet, Meghan McCain. That’s right, John “Maverick” McCain’s daughter holding an elephant to represent a segment of the GOP who stands for equality. I’m sure it’s a very small segment of the GOP, but nevertheless, it’s GREAT to see!
