AFA Takes on AAA

On AFA’s website, they have an email form in place where anti-gay bigots can email AAA’s CEO to proclaim their displeasure with the organization for treating GLBT citizens as…well…citizens. Below is the text of that email.

Dear Mr. Darbelnet:

My family and I are deeply shocked and saddened that AAA would alter its Family Membership policy to include recognizing homosexual couples as being “married.”

Thirty states have overwhelmingly voted to define marriage as being between one man and one woman. Yet AAA is treating homosexual couples as if they are married.

My family and I ask you to immediately reverse this policy of recognizing homosexual couples as if they were “married.”

I will share your response with my family and friends.

“Deeply shocked and saddened.” Here we go again. The anti-gay American Family Association, lead by the Religious Right nut job Donald E. Wildmon, (living proof that Satan is alive on earth and more than likely never finished the second grade) has his panties in a wad over the American Automobile Association’s decision to offer Gay & Lesbian couples a “family” membership. I suppose Donny has failed to remember that certain states have ended marriage discrimination against Gay and Lesbian couples, and I suppose he also has failed to remember that many of those couples have children which make them…well…a family.

I think we should all send an email to AAA to let them know how pleased we are with their decision to treat LGBT families as citizens and thank them for taking a step in the right direction by not letting religious ideology that promotes hate, intolerance, bigotry and discrimination.

To give the very best that is…..But if you want to do a little something to tweak the noses of the Religious Right, the American Patriarchy Association has called for a letter writing campaign. It seems that Hallmark Greeting Cards are peddling a line of gay-friendly cards, which irks poor little Donald Wildmon something fierce. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they’re cute, stylish, and witty, but at the same time he’s afraid to mail a coming-out card to his Mom?

Anyway, Wildmon is asking his flock to send negative letters to Hallmark. How about taking a moment to send the very best to thank Hallmark for being non-discriminatory? Use the AFA’s form, or email directly to Donald J. Hall.

We Love Happy Meals

I admit to having a weakness for McDonald’s french fries. There’s just something about those thin slivers of golden-fried potatoes, seasoned with just the right amount of salt. I know too much of them isn’t good for me but figure it’s OK to indulge every now and then.

McDonald’s fries might not help my cholesterol count, but eating them does have one benefit: It annoys the Religious Right.

McDonald’s is officially under boycott from Donald Wildmon’s American Family Association (AFA). The AFA, a Mississippi-based Religious Right outfit best known for obsessing over sexual content on cable and network television and its vociferous opposition to the “homosexual agenda,” has been going crazy lately because McDonald’s has made it clear that its family-friendly policy includes gay families.

The anti-gay American Family Association, which condemns gay and lesbian family causes like marriage equality, has called for a boycott of fast-food chain restaurant McDonald’s. McDonald’s, however, has given the AMA notice that it’s not about to allow its policies to be dictated by anti-gay groups. In a May 29 letter to AFA founder and chairman Donald Wildmon, Pat Harris, Global Chief Diversity Officer for McDonald’s, wrote, “Our founder Ray Kroc once said, ’None of us is as good as all of us.’” Added Harris, “This is a core value of McDonalds.” Get the meat of this story from edgenewyork.com.
