ACE: Robert Pattinson’s GLAAD Award

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has held the first gala for the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday, March 13 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and “Little Ashes” has taken home a prize.

The movie starring Robert Pattinson was named Outstanding Film for Limited Release category, beating up other nominees including “Casi Divas”, “The Country Teacher”, “Phoebe in Wonderland” and “The Secrets”.

Joy Behar, Cynthia Nixon and the ABC drama series “Brothers & Sisters” are among this year’s recipients of media awards from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Presented Saturday in New York, winners of the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards also include the NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” the Lifetime network film “Prayers for Bobby” and a report on CNN’s “American Morning” program called “Why Will Won’t Pledge Allegiance.”

Lez Get Real: Ask Ellen!

There’s a great post on Lez Get Real that exposes a Twitter and Facebook movement aimed at getting Ellen DeGeneres to put together a prom for the students of Itawamba High School after theirs was canceled because a lesbian student wanted to bring her girlfriend as a date.

According to the post:

The LGBT community has been tweeting and facebook this story all over the internet to try to bring attention to McMillen’s plight. We know what this statement means, The Itawamba School District is trying to villify McMillen to all her classmates, students that might have been indifferent or even supportive of her sexual orientation before, will now blame her for the prom being cancelled. We also know that an “unofficial” prom will be organized and McMillen will not be invited. It is probable that McMillen is not the only LGBT student at the school, so the school district is effectively endorsing a “no gays allowed” prom.

Ellen Degeneres Fans see this as an opportunity to step up and do for the LGBT community what Oprah has done in the African American community.

K-Fat or K-Fit?

Between a former member of The Bad Girls Club, one of Project Runway’s sassiest alums, and Bobby Brown, there has been no shortage of drama on this season’s edition of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. Surprisingly absent from the bulk of it (despite being just feet away from ex-flame Shar Jackson) has been Kevin Federline, arguably the cast member most familiar with chaos.

The former Mr. Britney Spears is flying under the radar this season, seemingly focused more on shedding the pounds that led tabloids to dub him ”K-Fat.” In an interview with EW, he tells us he’s still on that mission and dishes about the rest of the Fit Club season.

Nope, Not Gay

Just when we started thinking he was gay, Robert Pattinson comes out of the closet as sulky Kristen Stewart’s boyfriend, although the interview where he does so is pretty weird. “It is extremely difficult but we are together, yet. We can’t arrive at the same time because of the fans. It goes crazy.” The Sun wouldn’t just make up an interview, though, would they? I mean, white lies and unsourced rumors are one thing, but wholesale quote fabrication? I’m going with Celebitchy’s explanation: “Sparkles could be drunk.” For Kristen’s sake, let’s hope this isn’t true, because an “allergic to vagina” boyfriend sounds pretty lame.

On a cold Thursday afternoon in Manhattan, Joy Behar is taping an interview with financial expert Suze Orman. “It’s a disgrace,” Behar says of the fact that Orman and longtime partner Kathy Travis can’t legally marry. “I mean, what kind of bullshit is that?” she continues off-camera during a break, sipping Diet Coke through a lipstick-smudged straw. Later, while chatting with guest Joan Rivers about their mutual love of Bette Davis, Behar exclaims, “We’re like a gay man’s wet dream!”

Jesus Was Gay

Elton John believes that Jesus was “a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.” Not that you’ll actually read it in Parade magazine. You’ll have to go to Parade.com to find that little tidbit. We wonder what question writer Dotson Rader asked that prompted that remarkable answer. “What’s your take on the sex life of major deities?”

Anyway, back to Jesus: “On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East — you’re as good as dead.”

The story in the newspaper supplement talks mostly about his AIDS charity work, his struggles with drugs in the ’70s and ’80s, his relationship with longtime love David Furnish, and their attempt to adopt a Ukrainian orphan with AIDS. “He stole our hearts,” John says, but authorities there wouldn’t recognize his civil partnership with Furnish as a marriage and felt he was too old to be a father.

RuPaul’s Drag Race served up some country-fried fish as Ru put her barnyard full of drag chicklets through some ridiculous finger-lickin’ escapades, all as part of their big hayride to crown America’s Next Drag Superstar. What did we learn? For one: Don’t make fun of a big girl because while she may indeed win an eating challenge hands-down, that means you lose. Har-har to that!

I’m really excited too for Morgan’s debut album “Believe” which will be hitting the digital stores very soon. I’ve had the pleasure of already taking a listen to the album and it’s a quality piece of electronica based pop and ranks right up there with the likes of hot male dance artists like Tiesto and BT.
