You can add mega-actor Leonardo DiCaprio to the list of straight stars who have taken on the rolls of gay men as we discover he’s puckering up on screen with another guy.

According to a post on The Post Chronicle:

Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer will be kissing in the upcoming Clint Eastwood-directed biopic J. Edgar, written by Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black. Not only do the two actors kiss, but Black reveals the lip-locking is “very tender”.

GLAAD Honors Simmons

It looks like the efforts of LGBT ally Russell Simmons isn’t going unnoticed as he receives props for his efforts in supporting equality from GLAAD.

According to a post on Variety:

On Simmons, Barrios added: “Whether speaking out against the unfair nature of California’s anti-gay Proposition 8 or advocating for the repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ Russell Simmons has become a critical ally who inspires diverse communities across the country to support equality. As a cultural icon, Simmons’ steadfast support of our community has also encouraged countless gay and transgender people of color to be proud of who they are.”

That’s why it only seems natural that Cho’s good friend, Selene Luna would launch an online mini-series about the frustrating lives of misfits in showbiz.

Her latest project is a TV show called Selene’s Hollywood Confidential. It’s an online soap opera that chronicles the daily lives of Luna and her self-proclaimed misfit showbiz friends. Its first episode went live today.

Even thought the din surrounding Target’s contribution to the virulently anti-gay Tom Emmer’s campaign has been widely squelched, some still haven’t forgotten.

On the list of those still seeking retribution from the retailer is non other than one of the biggest celebrity allies to the LGBT community, Lady Gaga..even though she allowed them to feature her new release!

According to MinnPost.com:

Gaga spoke to the issue for the first time in this interview, telling Billboard that she wasn’t comfortable with the Target partnership when it first came up as a possibility, and that she met with ‘the entire executive staff’ at Target, along with her manager Troy Carter. ‘That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting,’ Gaga says.

When it comes to gay icons, people like Elton John, Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Liza and others may come to mind, but this one surprised us.

According to a post on Star Pulse, the one voted as the “Ultimate Gay Icon” was Britney Spears:

Singer Britney Spears has been voted the greatest gay icon of all time in a new poll.

The hitmaker saw off competition from President Barack Obama and veteran performer Cher to take 31 percent of the vote in the Orange County Equality Project’s poll to find the quintessential gay icon.

During a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, Lady Gaga said everyone wants her fail and can’t wait to see what she looks like when she’s dead.

According to a post on GBM News:

Gaga, whose highly anticipated song “Born This Way” was released Friday, told Cooper: “That’s what everyone wants to know, right? What is she going to look like when she dies … when she’s overdosed on whatever they think I’m overdosing on? Everybody wants to see the decay of the superstar.”

Non-Iconic

When we think of gay icons, we typically think of things somehow associated with the “Wizard of Oz”, like Judy or Liza. Perhaps we think of Elton John and other famous people who are out of the closet.

But just because we may consider someone a gay icon, doesn’t mean they view themselves in that respect. Such as in the case of RuPaul.

According to a post on SabDesi:

ACTOR, drag queen, model, author, and singer-songwriter RuPaul doesn’t consider himself a gay icon.

The star of RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag U says it’s none of his business how people perceive him.

I think it’s only normal to expect the hateful rhetoric that’s exchanged between those of us in the LGBT community and those who vehemently oppose our equality to become tiresome…at least for us.

But Elton John is speaking out about just how tired he is of it.

According to a post on Statesmen.com, Elton said:

“In this country, we need more dialogue,” he said Friday. “We don’t need any more stone throwing. We don’t need any more vitriol. We need people to say, ‘OK. I’m straight. You’re gay. Let’s get along. … Let’s work together.’ I’m sick and tired of people being hateful to each other in this country.”
