Hitting the Big Time

We all are aware the success that has fallen upon the smash TV hit “Glee”, but it looks like some of the cast has hit the big time as well.

According to a post on The Daily News:

Sure, there’s a growing trend of openly gay actors on prime-time TV (Neil Patrick Harris, T.R. Knight), but 20-year-old Chris Colfer is the only one also playing a gay character — fearless teen fashionista Kurt Hummel on the hit musical series “Glee.” He’s stealing scenes and hitting all the right notes as a diva unlike any we’ve seen on the small screen.

As primetime TV gives us more and more gay characters, more and more acting opportunities arise for straights willing to play gay.

Such as in the case of Anne Hathaway set to appear on an episode of “Glee”.

According to FlyNews.com:

Anne Hathaway has been chosen to play a guest appearance role on Glee as Chris Colfer’s gay aunt. She is very excited about the role. Ryan Murphy the creator of Glee says Hathaway wanted to the lesbian role because everybody needs a gay aunt.

Living Proof!

That’s right, Chris Colfer, the openly gay young guy who plays the openly gay character of Kurt on the TV smash hit “Glee” is a living testament to the fact that as life goes on, it really does get better for our LGBT youth.

In high school, Colfer was subject to daily ridicule, taunting and bullying for being gay, but just look at him now…more than just a step ahead of those who felt the need to harass him I’m sure.

According to a post on the New York Post:

“I remember one time someone screamed ‘fag’ at me in the hallway, and I screamed back, ‘Yeah, but can you spell it?’ Everyone in the hallway laughed at the other kid; it was nice to reverse the abuse.”

“The emotions that Kurt goes through are very real. I’ve personally gone through all of those,” says Colfer.

Glee’s Big Secret

It’s no big secret anymore that Chris Colfer’s character of Kurt on the smash TV hit series “Glee” is due to expect a love interest this season, but there is a secret no one knows yet.

According to a post on EW:

“My guess is as good as anybody’s,” shrugs newest Glee cast member Darren Criss of reports that his character Blaine—a charismatic, out-and-proud gay teen from a rival school—is being groomed as a love interest for Chris Colfer’s Kurt. “It’s a really big secret.”

Whether or not you’re actually a fan of the TV show ‘Glee’, you’ve probably heard enough about it to know that it’s popular with both the straight and LGBT communities, which provides a bit of a gap between the two.

An Awwfully Gleeful Kiss?

So rumor has it that the ‘Glee’ character played by openly gay actor Chris Colfer will be getting a boyfriend this season, so naturally, many want to know if they’ll share a kiss. If they do, Colfer says he’s “fine with it”.

According to E Online:

“I’m fine with it,” he told me at the Emmys. “I don’t know how middle America would feel about it, [but] if it’s done in a tasteful way…I want it to be very cute and have people go, ‘Aww!’“

Britney Feeling the “Glee”

Britney Spears has Tweeted pics of her and “Glee” cast member Heather Morris and revealed the song they’re performing: “Me Against the Music.”

Britney wrote: “All my GLEEKERS in the crowd, Grab a partner take it down –Brit.”

While Fox’s Glee has taken off as a prime-time phenomenon solid weekly ratings, massive downloads of the musical comedy’s weekly songs on iTunes, nobody has ridden the wave to stardom faster than Chris Colfer. At just 19, the kid who grew up in Clovis, Calif., a small town near Fresno, has risen to stardom playing Kurt Hummel, one of the few gay characters in prime time. And he can sing. With no professional training, Colfer so impressed Glee creator Ryan Murphy during initial auditions that a character was written specifically for him.

In his first gay press interview, Colfer sat down with Advocate.com to discuss his overnight success, growing up in a small town, and how important it is to be gay in prime time.
