According to Targana Political News, the Supreme Court is getting involved in the legal fight over the anti-gay protesters who show up at military funerals with inflammatory messages like “Thank God for dead soldiers.”

The court agreed Monday to consider whether the protesters’ message, no matter how provocative and upsetting, is protected by the First Amendment. Members of a Kansas-based church have picketed military funerals to spread their belief that U.S. deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq are punishment for the nation’s tolerance of homosexuality.

The justices will hear an appeal from the father of a Marine killed in Iraq to reinstate a $5 million verdict against the protesters, after they picketed outside his son’s funeral in Maryland.

Driving Equality and the Westboro Baptist Church are similar in their missions. WBC travels the country to promote their message of hatred of gays and lesbians. Driving Equality also travels the country, but our message is one of love and acceptance for gays and lesbians. We will continue to combat the hatred and lies beings spread by WBC.

During the 107 day trek across the United States, I stopped in Topeka, Kansas to visit the Westboro Baptist Church and sit down for a conversation with Shirley Phelps, the daughter or Fred Phelps and new leader of the group.

Adam Lambert Boycott?

In an incomprehensible, depressing state of human affairs, anti-gay demonstrators protested Adam Lambert at an American Idol concert in San Jose on Sunday.

Members of the hate-filled, close-minded, controversial Westboro Baptist Church were spotted outside the HP Pavilion, carrying signs that criticized homosexuals and chanting about Lambert’s sexuality.

The season eight runner-up revealed his sexual preference in an interview with Rolling Stone last month, a few weeks after he finished second to Kris Allen on the Fox series.

Evangelicals Call for Acceptance

A coalition of evangelical Christian groups have called on church organizations condemning an American anti- gay hate group to face up to their own discriminatory policies and behavior. Last week members of the Westboro Baptist Church claimed they were going to picket a performance of a gay-themed play in Basingstoke.

Fred Phelps and Shirley Phelps-Roper, two of the leaders of WBC, were banned from entering the UK by the Home Office.
