One such bit of advice comes from My Side of the Street:

Remembering that we are powerless over people, places and things, and that renting people free space in the brain is unnecessary keeps me in check. If I don’t let you bother me, then I am unbothered.

There are two things that I love in life… writing and helping people. So it only comes naturally to start an advice blog. I feel like I’ve been through hell and back in the short time of the past few years, but I pulled myself together and the one thing that I wish I had when I was going through everything was somebody to guide me through the really hard times. So the least I could do is give other people somebody to lean on when it seems like they’re about to fall. I also have a knack of being bluntly honest which helps me come up with more substance than “I’m sorry” and “everything is going to be OK”. So since I have no followers or viewers right now, I’ll start with a few situations that my friends have asked for help with. Most of my best advice usually occurs when I’m asked about relationship problems so that is where I’ll start. Oh and I should tell you that I am gay and most of these problems stem from other gay men. That isn’t to say I wouldn’t give advice to women or about women, but let’s face it… I know men backwards and forwards.

The funny part is as soon as I quit talking to my ex, things seriously took a turn for the better. I just got into a bachelors of nursing program and I start classes on tuesday. I’ve never been more excited for anything in my life. And the best part is now I don’t have to worry about my ex as I sit in class. I have no distractions at all. Not only that, but my financial aid covered all of the costs plus I get VA benefits every month… not to mention, they said they could help me find a part time job at a hospital. All in all, i’ll be making $1500 a month and yet I won’t be paying rent or anything. I can go back to my old lifestyle of not looking at price tags. I should be done with the nursing program in a year and a half since my credits transfer from my old college. And then after that, I can pretty much work anywhere since just about every hospital in the US needs nurses. I was thinking of moving to Colorado… hmmmm or maybe Seattle.

The big V is about cuddle time, romance, passion and other niceties that men desire; but sometimes what should be Cupid’s dream ends up being a cauldron of stress, especially when it comes to gift exchange.

I am very self-conscious about it, especially since a great deal of value seems to be placed upon dick size. It has inhibited me a great deal in dating, and when I do date I find that most guys don’t want to see me again. I have started being upfront about it with people I meet, and I can tell that they’re losing interest, even if they don’t come right out and say so. I know you can be blunt, Dr. Bill, but this has caused me a lot of distress so please don’t make fun of me.

here has been significant and understandable angst and anger on the part of the GLBT community concerning the setbacks to gay rights. In particular, the passage of Proposition 8 in California has raised the level of of these emotions to proportions that I have not observed since growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 60′s and 70′s.

However, I have observed this anger spilling over into what I believe to be counter-productive approaches and efforts. Recently, there was an incident wherein a protest occurred at the Mount Hope Church in Michigan. While I do not agree with the version of Christianity that this church preaches, I feel strongly that this sort of reaction does nothing to further the cause of equal rights for all; and in particular, of those who are a part of the GLBT community. It is my belief that if this approach is adopted as standard operating procedure, or even if it is applauded and embraced by the majority of the gay community, it will wind up doing incredible harm to the cause of gay rights, and thereby, to the cause of universal equality.

Honey, sit back and relax, I’m about to tell you a little story. Momma Montage had a purpose in life… and then he stepped into reality and realized her services were not longer needed. But that was nonsense; someone in this world has GOT to have some sort of problem Poppy can help in! So with much exploration and exploitation, Poppy Montage decided to help the serendipitous. Little did Poppy know he was actually good at giving advices (and lengthy ones at that). Also Poppy Montage LOVES to eat. And there’s no better way to sooth the heart than GOOD food. Good, CHEAP food at that. So included with my advice is a few good places to eat!
