Now here’s a gay blog that I haven’t quite figured out yet other than there are some really cool pics with very cool, yet odd lighting effects that give a new dimension to gay and erotic photography.

Gosha Rubinskiy is a 25-year-old Russian fashion designer, film maker and photographer who seems to have a faible for the nineties as well as teenage delinquents and the youth in the post-USSR era in general. For the show documented on the pictures below (it took place at a sports hall in Moscow spring last year) he casted local skaters, hockey players, graffiti artists and street kids as models. The video further down is shot a short film by Rubchinskiy about the every day live of a bunch of Russian skaters.

J. Davy Kirkpatrick’s photography career essentially began on February 13, 1988, when he shot a grad school friend who was a long-distance runner and interested in modeling. Both of them liked the results, and that emboldened him to start asking various other athletes – other runners, cyclists, and bodybuilders – if they’d be willing to pose for his camera, too. Things snowballed (in a good way) from there. He spent his early days shooting in southern Arizona, but his photography career really took off once he moved west to Los Angeles in late 1994.

There’s much to be said for a little desolation. There’s also a great deal of truth in the old cliche that a picture’s worth a thousand words. I really don’t know one word that is written on this blog, mostly because it’s in French. But sometimes, just like when you were a kid, you don’t really need the words to understand what’s going on, you just enjoy looking at the pictures.

Well, that’s kind of the case with this blog. I’m not sure what it says, but I’m not sure I’m interested. I would just rather let the pics give me the thousand words if I need them.

The Power of Eros

The body is the seat of our biological identity and the holder of the secret which leads to the beginning of knowledge. it is the seat of passion, drama and above all Eros. The choice of the in depth study of the nude (above all the male nude) has its origins for me in the obsession for the dynamic which generates the light and the shade of the male body and the very boundaries between erotic and dramatic emotion, the choice of positioning myself in that portion of space existing as in a hallucination between being and non being.

The camera has always played an important role in my studies and learning (both formal and personal) which by means of deep and courageous research has now focussed on the body.

Let’s see what we have here: two sexy guys having sex. Cool. Wait… there’s an Angel watching them! Easy tiger, it’s the latest safe sex campaign ‘AIDS Hilfe Wien’ in Austria. When you wear a condom, it’s like the angels watching over you and protecting you. ok? The ads were photographed by Oliver Gast for ad agency PKP with art direction by Daniela Reichmann and creative direction by Roman Sindelar & Erich Enzenberger.

Black is Beautiful, Gay is Good! is a photography-based exhibition that celebrates Black Gay culture, life and history by Haitian-American photographer Ocean Morisset. The title of the exhibition was culled from two slogans popularized during the tumultuous 1960’s, a time when the Civil Rights Movement exploded into the forefront of American Culture. Black is Beautiful was a phrase popularized by activist and Black Panther Stokely Carmichael. Gay is Good was inspired by Carmichael’s slogan and coined by (white) gay activist Frank Kameny during the same period.
