Mikki and I strolled leisurely through the crowded streets. It was Saturday evening, after all. Now, to wander through a city by night: that’s an absolute must. You always discover another side, a different face. Hidden treasures spotlighted by the change of light to dark, the change of perspectives. Time and again, we caught glimpses of the artfully illuminated Castle on the other side of the Vltava river. It sparkled and glittered on top of the hill. It dominated the skyline, its radiance reflected, ripped to shreds and washed downstream, piece by piece, in the swirling river waters.
Finally, we found the address Havel had indicated. The entrance was inconspicuous, no Rainbow Flag signalling that this was a gay bar.

We Travel Around

SRETAN USKRS… we cannot exactly recall how these came to be the first Croatian words we learned to say as we have never been to Croatia and certainly never had any formal Croatian linguistic training. to our ears, the holiday greeting carries no notion of mild spring air, Easter eggs, blooming flowers or bunnies. however, one evening while enjoying a Bavarian dinner at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich around Easter a few years ago, we found ourselves surrounded by 20 middle aged women who did not speak any English or German. logically, we started a conversation of laughter and hugs when we saluted with our beers and sung the words, sretan uskrs! after this experience we thought that it is inevitable that we make our way to the Dalmatian coast.
