We Travel Around

SRETAN USKRS… we cannot exactly recall how these came to be the first Croatian words we learned to say as we have never been to Croatia and certainly never had any formal Croatian linguistic training. to our ears, the holiday greeting carries no notion of mild spring air, Easter eggs, blooming flowers or bunnies. however, one evening while enjoying a Bavarian dinner at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich around Easter a few years ago, we found ourselves surrounded by 20 middle aged women who did not speak any English or German. logically, we started a conversation of laughter and hugs when we saluted with our beers and sung the words, sretan uskrs! after this experience we thought that it is inevitable that we make our way to the Dalmatian coast.

Gay Greece!
December 28, 2009 by James · Leave a Comment
Villa Ralfa was opened in 2004 as the first gay owned and run accommodation and lodgings for gay and lesbian independent travellers. Located about 20km east of the main airport at Heraklion, Villa Ralfa has good access to the main road links to the east and west of the island and is ideally situated for visiting the main archaeological sites at Knossos and Malia.
Close by is the busy, touristic, Port Hersonissos with many bars and clubs. The village of Pano Hersonissos with its picturesque square, is much quieter, and the restaurants and bars around the square have a much greater ‘Greek’ feel to them. A short drive away is the Lassithi plateau with many small villages where you can enjoy a good lunch or dinner at very good prices!
The nearest beach is only 2km from Villa Ralfa, the nudist beach is a little further and can be reached quite quickly by scooter or car. For those that enjoy a walk it’ll take you about an hour!
We are open all year round, except when we go on holidays ourselves, and the winter visitor will find that we are well equipped for the sometimes, cool and wet, winter weather, with TV/DVD, board games etc for those wet days!
You can choose between our self contained apartment with its own kitchen or you can stay in our bed and breakfast accommodation on the top floor with its own balcony overlooking the sea and mountains.
With our excellent local knowledge we can suggest places to eat and drink, and places to visit, so you can choose your holiday to be as busy or as quiet as you like.
