And no we’re not speaking of Martha’s “Raining Men” but rather Glee’s hot little man of the hour Darren Criss who is all wet…literally!

According to a post on Broadway.com:

For his latest photo shoot, Criss decided to unveil his sexy side by showing some skin for the latest issue of Out magazine. Drenched and dripping, the “Teenage Dream” singer posed for a series of sizzling shots while discussing his career and role as Glee‘s openly gay teenager Blaine.

Chaning Tides

It’s no secret that equality issues are hot button items that unfortunately spark a lot of debate…but that’s really nothing new.

If you think about it, discrimination against various groups can be found all throughout history.

But what causes the tide to turn? One professor from Towson discusses this at ABC.com:

Amy Becker, assistant professor, Dept. of Mass Comm. & Comm. Studies at Towson University, published the article that will appear in Social Science Quarterly exploring what factors influence public support for same-sex marriage.

Professor Becker joined Good Morning Maryland on February 17th to talk about her new article. She says there is more of a social acceptance of same sex marriage due to rise of gay characters in shows like, Glee.

Hitting the Big Time

We all are aware the success that has fallen upon the smash TV hit “Glee”, but it looks like some of the cast has hit the big time as well.

According to a post on The Daily News:

Sure, there’s a growing trend of openly gay actors on prime-time TV (Neil Patrick Harris, T.R. Knight), but 20-year-old Chris Colfer is the only one also playing a gay character — fearless teen fashionista Kurt Hummel on the hit musical series “Glee.” He’s stealing scenes and hitting all the right notes as a diva unlike any we’ve seen on the small screen.

Unless you’ve been in hiding and/or don’t own a TV, you know that “Glee” has been all the rave for sometime and has increasingly grown in popularity. But despite it’s huge success, is it really a great show?

According to one posting on Daily Trojan, perhaps not:

Despite the popularity garnered by the idea of a show about covering popular songs, we are left to wonder about the quality of the show as whole.

Playing Gay

As primetime TV gives us more and more gay characters, more and more acting opportunities arise for straights willing to play gay.

Such as in the case of Anne Hathaway set to appear on an episode of “Glee”.

According to FlyNews.com:

Anne Hathaway has been chosen to play a guest appearance role on Glee as Chris Colfer’s gay aunt. She is very excited about the role. Ryan Murphy the creator of Glee says Hathaway wanted to the lesbian role because everybody needs a gay aunt.

Hollywood Homophobia

More than one Hollywood veteran has come out to say stay in the closet as they offer advice to aspiring actors who are gay because they claim Hollywood is largely homophobic.

However not all people agree with that advice nor do they perceive Hollywood as the homophobia plagued city that others claim it is.

According to a post on On Top Magazine:

‘Glee’ star Jane Lynch disagrees with actors Rupert Everett and Richard Chamberlain on whether Hollywood is homophobic.

Lynch, who stars as sharp-tongued coach Sue Sylvester on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, has rejected claims that openly gay actors can’t get work in Hollywood.

Gaga & Beiber’s Glee

On their continued quest to bring starpower to the hit TV series Glee, reports have it that songs by Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga will be part of the new line-up!

According to a post on Rolling Stone:

According to Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming single “Born This Way” will be performed in an episode of the show that will air sometime in March or April.

As we all reflect back on 2010, it’s good to know that some of the things that made it to the top of the good lists include some gaystream entertainment as “Glee” was named the top show of 2010.According to a post on GBM News:

As if the ultra-talented cast of “Glee” wasn’t enough of a reason to tune in, they’ve peppered the show with guest stars like Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Broadway icons Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. But it’s Rachel, Finn, Kurt, Mercedes, Artie and the gang who make the show really sing, enough for you to vote it as the #1 TV Show of 2010. Plus, it’s upcoming Super Bowl episode is said to be a “Thriller.”

Couric’s Glee

Every since the 2008 presidential campaign where Katie Couric exposed Sarah Palin as the dimwit she is to the entire world, she’s been a big hit with me and now she’s going to be appearing on a big gay hit!According to Access Hollywood:

Katie will appear on the hit FOX show’s post-Super Bowl episode on February 6, 2011. Jane Lynch told Access on Sunday at the Trevor LIVE event that Katie would perform “Tea for Two” alongside Matthew Morrison, who plays McKinley High glee coach Will Schuester.

Sending the Right Message?

We all know that “Glee” is hugely popular across America amongst those who fall between the ages of teen to 50 and those who are straight and part of the LGBT community. But is the show sending the right message to it’s large audience about bullying?

According to a post by Steve Charing on his blog:

The causes of bullying have various roots. Often, we find the bullies have been bullied themselves during their young lives, or even worse, abused by family members. Some have genuine self-esteem issues, and picking on a smaller, fatter, poorer or gay kid helps him or her elevate their own worth. Others ascribe the bullying of gay kids as a normal ritual in high school in an effort to be popular. But one cannot draw the conclusion that bullying of gay kids results from sexual conflicts or confusion, although undoubtedly that is a factor in some cases.

As the bullying and harassment of Kurt by Dan Karofsky continues, the taunts and threats of bodily harm seem more frequent and darker (perhaps fueled by rejection). And if Kurt ever disclosed the kissing incident, Karofsky would kill him.
