Celebrities were on hand for a special NO H8 campaign photo shoot in North Hollywood, California on Wednesday. NO H8 was founded in order to counter Proposition 8, the exclusionary ballot initiative passed in California last November that banned same sex marriages.

Season six American Idol runner up, Blake Lewis, was eager to lend his name to the cause, and was brought to the shoot by fellow Idol’er from season four, Mikalah Gordon.

NO H8 campaign founder, Adam Bouska tells RadarOnline.com that he wanted to make a positive statement…rather than dwelling on the negative. It wasn’t long before this grassroots effort was enticing famous faces to participate.

Old Hate, New Mask

The Southern Poverty Law Center thinks that the election of an African-American president is causing a spike in hate groups in the U.S. The troubled economic times through which we’re now passing also cause some folks to turn to hate as a way of venting economic frustration.

I was walking with my homemade sign to the protest after the passage of Prop H8 and a middle-aged man stopped and asked me what I was doing. I told him about the legislation that had passed and in a thick accent, he said, “What, that shit passed? So I got called a gay for nothing?”

Praying for Rain

It was reported earlier on gayagenda.com that Stuart Shepard, correspondent for the Focus on the Family network and a Dobson crony, mused on bothering God about prayers for some biblical rains to wash away Obama’s convention speech in Denver this month. In the video he claims, what’s a little rain when the institution of marriage and millions of unborn lives are at stake?

Well, looks like his video has backfired and people from within his own Anti-Gay hate group have grumbled enough to have the video pulled off the website. According to a blog on queensspeach.com, “they’re saying it was just a joke. Well, it’s a joke that the religious right used to target Obama, because he’s a Democrat. This only fuels the concern that the religious right isn’t about God anymore, they’re about Republicans. And that’s just sad.”
