What is about women and sweet treats? In particular chocolate and cake?

I don’t know what you think, but Beth and I have a theory that a craving for sweet treats means that you don’t have enough female loving in your life. Think about it, straight women seem to go doo lally over a slab of chocolate, whereas straight men seem more focused on things like pizza.

Do you want to know what really pisses me off? First, a disclaimer, the subject of this post is only one of the many, many, many things that piss me off so the theme of pissoffedness is likely to be revisited regularly in this blog. This week, among the several things that have pissed me off, (seriously, did you watch the Grammys? Stevie Nicks and Taylor Swift –really? ), is the TLC show Toddlers and Tiaras. If you haven’t run across this show while surfing through the enormous heaving slag pile that passes for entertainment on the “TV machine” as my girl Rachel Maddow calls it –I’ll give you a brief synopsis. The show features a bunch of crazy women, (the Moms), who dress their very young daughters like miniature drag queens then parade them around for the benefit of the other “Moms” and a variety of equally creepy individuals who, for reasons I can only speculate upon, frequent these baby beauty pageants. This program is of course a reality show so it revolves salaciously around a specific group of women all competing against each other to see whose child can become the reining little miss whatever.

The program is painful to watch. Not only is it painful to see very young children being exploited and objectified by everyone involved, but it is painful to watch as these madwomen cajole, bully, and beg their daughters into cooperating with this insanity, and using coercion tactics that the CIA would envy in order to convince these babies that this nonsense is fun. Some of the most oft-repeated phrases you will hear coming from the “Moms” are, “Competing is her idea, she loves this, this is her choice, and we wouldn’t do it if she didn’t want to be here.” As far as I can tell – they don’t want to be there, they are simply brainwashed children trying to please overbearing Mothers.

Because All Women Matter

The 2009 Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Centers annual “An Evening With Women” went more than well last Friday at the fabulous Beverly Hilton Hotel. For people who don’t know, this event is an evening set out to bring lesbians, bisexuals, and women supporters together for an evening filled with music, art, comedy, auctions, and much more! “An Evening With Women” celebrates all the achievements of the women in the community who make a difference each and everyday. But, I like to think it celebrates us all as a whole through out this country and the rest of the world!

Lesbian Teen Forced to Wear Dress

Many high school students are preparing for prom around the country, or have recently celebrated prom, such as students from Ringgold High in Catoosa County, Georgia.

One such student is Nikki Heiskil, a student who planned to attend the prom as part of a same-sex couple with girlfriend Ashley Beaty. Initially the couple were asked not to attend their school’s prom, by Principal Sharon Vaughn and told to return their tickets because it was not a “girl-girl” prom.

A Tribute to Bea Arthur

Bea lived a great and comedic life in the eyes of her fans, who enjoyed every waking moment with her flourished talent, feminist approaches, and eyes of a better life. Her talent and wise outlooks live on, passing off many years and decades of comedy and fulfillment of dreams to the newest generations to come. At 86, she battled cancer, a fight she lost, but a fight she didn’t give up on. Just as she didn’t give up on me and you in our fight for equality and femininity and all the blunders that come with it! With that we honor you and thank you Bea! It’s a fight we will keep endeavoring and hopefully one day, we will see what this fight has to offer when it is ceased!

Villiage Cop Sues New People

Victor Willis, the original lead singer of the group the Village People and the songwriter who helped write hits like “Y.M.C.A” and “Macho Man,” has filed a lawsuit against a new version of the Village People.

Since exiting the Village People, Willis had declined offers to record and he consistently refused to perform any of his Village People hits until recently and wants the new Village People to stop using his likeness and voice.
