Perez Fired for Being Gay?

Maybe the reason Anderson Cooper isn’t so forthcoming with his sexuality is he fears a fate similar to Charles Perez, the Miami anchor for ABC affiliate WPLG claiming he was fired for being gay.

Perez was last seen pulling anchor duty on July 22, but his descent began months ago, according to a discrimination claim filed with Miami-Dade’s Equal Opportunity Board, alleging WPLG bosses ousted him “because of their discomfort over the increasingly high profile of my sexual orientation.”

There are a trillion ways to celebrate and say I “heart” you in honor of the pagan holiday dressed up as a catholic one. In Roman times a popular festival called the Lupercalia was held annually, February 15th. Young nobles called Luperci, ran around Palatine hill in Rome in what is believed to have been a purification ritual. The young men were naked, except for the skins of goats that had been sacrificed that day, they would strike women they met on the hands with strips of sacrificial goatskin to promote fertility. While in modern times we still get naked and slap each other with skin, here are some other options to spice it up on “VD Day” (heteros can enjoy to).

Judge Rules Cocodorm is OK

In a post from the Miami Herald, it has been reported that the boys of Cocodorm, Snow Bunni, J Fizzo, et al, are staying put. A federal judge ruled that the gay porn website has a right to film out of its Edgewater home.

Cocodorm.com features black and Hispanic men, known as ”dorm dudes,” who share a webcam-filled house together.

Miami has tried to shut the house down, arguing it constitutes an adult business illegally operating in a residential area. The city’s Code Enforcement Board in 2007 agreed, but Cocodorm responded to the code enforcement proceedings by suing in federal court.

One Hot Mess

As mentioned last month, rapper DMX was in Miami waiting for Arizona authorities to pick him up as he has to face drug and animal cruelty charges there. Well, according to Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials, DMX has been transfered and is now in custody in a Phoenix jail.

He’s currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.No trial date has been set yet for his many offenses.This has just been a year full of jail time and court cases for DMX.

Someone needs to go to rehab, and fast!

Clocks Ticking Backwards

Today we woke up in a State that was just a tad bit less backward, as a Circuit Judge in Monroe County deemed Florida’s ban on Gay Adoption unconstitutional. It doesn’t mean that ban disappeared over night, or is necessarily going away any time soon. But it brings up a discussion the State has needed for a long time.

See, Florida is one of only two states in the country to have such a ban. The other: Mississippi, Goddam.
